Understanding Our Non-Exclusive Library Agreements

  1. Overview
  2. The Basics
  3. Library Distribution
  4. Understanding Our Non-Exclusive Library Agreements

Our agreements with non-exclusive libraries are designed to be as flexible as possible, allowing you to work with any other non-exclusive libraries. If you have concerns about a contract with a non-exclusive library you're working with outside of That Pitch, it might be best to pull your music from them or not work with That Pitch (though, this has never in the history of That Pitch, been an issue for any of our members 🙂.)

Most libraries include NDAs in their contracts, which is standard practice in the music industry. Because of this, we can't share their specific agreements. But rest assured, these agreements fit perfectly within the framework of our distribution agreement, which you agreed to when becoming a member.

What You Can Expect: The only thing to keep in mind is that YouTube Content ID is managed by That Pitch to make licensing smoother and help you earn more.

Distribution Agreement Details (as it relates to non-exclusive libraries):

  • Non-Exclusive Tracks: If you upload a track as available for a non-exclusive library, it will stay non-exclusive even when a Music Library accepts it. However, YouTube Content ID is managed exclusively by us.
  • Library Integration Time: It can take anywhere from a few hours to several months for a Music Library to process and make your tracks available to customers. We deliver everything to them immediately, however they have their own systems for ingesting it into their catalog. We have no control over it. Thanks for your patience!
  • Library Pricing and Terms: Each Music Library sets its own pricing and terms for offering recordings to customers, and this can vary. By opting into non-exclusive Music Libraries, you agree to their pricing and policies. The data (and our member's bank accounts) shows, the more accessible your music is, the more placements it can get, which means the more royalties you'll earn!
  • Territory: We distribute your recordings to Music Libraries worldwide. The “Territory” of this Agreement is the whole universe, except where noted for certain areas outside the US.
  • Library Policies: Music Libraries might choose not to carry your recordings at all or in certain territories based on their policies. We may also remove recordings from any or all libraries if legal issues pop up or for any other business reason.

As long as any other non-exclusive libraries you work with are cool with our distribution agreement, you’re all set! There are no conflicting terms. Here are the main points to remember:

  • Your recordings stay non-exclusive unless you choose an exclusive library.
  • You get 100% of your earnings. Awesome, right?
  • YouTube Content ID is managed exclusively by That Pitch.

Our system is purposefully built to give you the utmost flexibility and ease of access into the licensing world while ensuring you get paid 100%. More representations mean more placements, which leads to more royalties for you! 🙂
