Can I Use My Corporate Business Name as My Artist Name?

Short answer: No. You cannot use a business entity, label name, or production house name as your artist name. However, you are completely free to use a creative alias, side project, or pseudonymous artist brand.

When distributing music, libraries require that you enter a dedicated, consumer-facing Artist Name or Project Name in the artist field.

What is NOT Allowed (Business & Entity Names)

To prevent metadata conflicts and library rejections, you cannot list your artist name under a business banner or catalog aggregator.

  • Incorrect Formatting: Listing your artist name as "COOL BEATS PRODUCTIONS" and your song title as "Song Title (feat. Artist Name)".

  • Incorrect Formatting: Mixing your personal name with an entity, such as "Mark / Cool Beats Productions".

⚠️ Platform Rule: That Pitch operates on a direct-to-creator model. We do not work with labels, publishing companies, or any third-party entities representing an underlying roster of artists. We work strictly and directly with the individual music producers and artists who own the music.

What IS Allowed (Creative Brands & Multi-Profiles)

While corporate entity names are banned, project-based names and creative brands are highly encouraged.

An "Artist Profile" on That Pitch represents the unique creative brand behind the specific music you create. If you produce music across completely different genres (for example, cinematic lo-fi under one name and heavy rock under another), you can utilize our Multi-Profile feature to manage them cleanly:

  • Build Creative Brands: You can create separate Artist Profiles for different project names or aliases to keep your genres distinct for music supervisors.

  • Ownership Requirement: Regardless of how many creative project profiles you create, you must personally own 100% of the underlying music and master rights across all of them.

  • What to do if you don't own it: If you co-produced a track with an external artist and do not have sole ownership of the asset, you cannot upload it under a dummy profile. Instead, have your collaborator sign up for their own That Pitch account so you can link your accounts legally using our permanent "Splits" feature during the upload process.

Simple version: Use your personal name or a creative artist pseudonym—never a corporate production company or label name. If you have multiple musical styles, use separate Artist Profiles to manage your different creative brands.
