The short answer: It depends entirely on what you want to modify. While secondary search optimization metadata can be updated, you cannot replace the actual audio file, alter the primary track title, or change listed collaborators and split percentages once a track has been uploaded.
To update permissible fields, navigate to My Music in your dashboard and click directly on your track's title.
If the Track is Pending (Before Library Acceptance)
If your track has been uploaded to the platform but has not yet been processed or accepted by a partner library, your editing capabilities are split as follows:
Strictly Locked Elements: You cannot change the Track Title, overwrite the Audio File, or modify any Collaborators or Writer Split Percentages you initially submitted. If any of these foundational elements contain an error, you must delete the track from your dashboard entirely and re-upload it.
Editable Elements: You are free to update descriptive metadata at any time to optimize your indexing. This includes search tags, genres, sub-genres, moods, BPM, Key signatures, and lyric sheets.
If the Track is Active (After Library Acceptance)
Once a track is officially accepted into a partner library, its core identity is distributed across music supervisor networks. To protect your active placements and avoid catastrophic tracking errors, editing boundaries become much tighter:
Strictly Locked Elements: The track title, audio file, collaborator list, and baseline writer splits are completely permanent and immutable.
Editable Elements: You can still safely update or add your high-resolution stems, ISRC codes, and ISWC numbers. Keeping these official identifiers updated ensures that your backend performance and mechanical royalties route smoothly to your Performing Rights Organization (PRO).
Summary Rules for Post-Upload Modifications
Permanent Core Elements: Track Title, Audio File, Collaborator Listings, and Split Percentages. If any of these four elements are wrong, you must delete the track from your dashboard and re-upload it as a brand-new submission.
Modifiable Optimization Elements: Search tags, genres, sub-genres, moods, BPM, Key signatures, and lyric sheets can be updated anytime. High-resolution audio stems, ISRC codes, and ISWC numbers can also be added or adjusted at any point before or after a track has been placed.
Simple version: Check your titles, audio files, and co-writers carefully before uploading. Metadata tags like BPM, Key, genre, moods, lyrics, and stems can be tweaked later to optimize searchability, but the core song profile is permanently locked once submitted.
