Can I Change A Track Once It's Uploaded?

The short answer: It depends entirely on what you want to change. While you can update secondary descriptive metadata and performance identifiers, you can never replace the core audio file, change the track title, or modify ownership splits once a track has been uploaded.

To make permissible edits to an active file, navigate to My Music in your dashboard and click on the title of your track.

Editing Before a Track Is Accepted into a Library

If your track has been uploaded but has not yet been processed or picked up by a partner library, your metadata editing options are strictly divided:

  • What you CANNOT change: You are completely locked out of editing the Track Title, the Audio File, any Collaborators, and your Writer Split Percentages. These four core elements are permanently stamped onto the asset the moment the upload completes. If any of these foundational details are incorrect, you must delete the track entirely and re-upload it.

  • What you CAN change: You are free to update secondary, non-legal search metadata to help optimize your indexing. This includes search tags, genres, sub-genres, moods, BPM, Key signatures, and lyric sheets.

Editing After a Track Is Accepted into a Library

Once a track has been officially accepted into a partner library, its core identity is formally registered with music supervisors and embedded across our network. At this stage, changes are highly restricted to prevent catastrophic metadata conflicts:

  • What you CANNOT change: The track title, audio file, collaborator lists, and baseline writer splits remain completely unchangeable.

  • What you CAN change: You can still safely upload or update your stems, ISRC codes, and ISWC numbers. Keeping these official identifiers updated ensures that your backend performance and mechanical royalties route to your PRO accurately.

Summary Rules for Post-Upload Modifications

  • Permanent Core Elements: Track Title, Audio File, Collaborator Listings, and Split Percentages. If any of these four elements are wrong, you must delete the track from your dashboard and re-upload it as a brand-new submission.

  • Modifiable Optimization Elements: Search tags, genres, sub-genres, moods, BPM, Key signatures, and lyric sheets can be updated anytime. High-resolution audio stems, ISRC codes, and ISWC numbers can also be added or adjusted at any point before or after a track has been placed.

Simple version: The moment your upload finishes, your track title, audio file, co-writers, and split percentages are permanently locked. If any of those four elements contain an error, you must delete the track and re-upload it. You may only edit tags, genres, moods, BPM, Key, lyrics, stems, and PRO registration codes post-upload.
