YouTube Content ID & That Pitch

  4. YouTube Content ID & That Pitch

Why Does This Matter?

YouTube only allows one Content ID registration per track. If a track is registered in multiple places, it creates conflicts—which libraries don’t want to deal with. That Pitch manages Content ID to make sure your tracks are fully cleared, widely available for sync, and never blocked by a duplicate claim.

Does That Pitch Register My Tracks with Content ID?

Yep. That Pitch has to manage Content ID for every track you upload. Why? Because we distribute to 100+ production music libraries, and they need direct control over how tracks are licensed. If your track is already in Content ID somewhere else, they usually won’t accept it.

Do I Still Get Paid?

Yes. 100% of Content ID revenue goes to you. We don’t take a cut. We just handle the admin so you don’t have to.

Can I Not Use That Pitch, And Manage Content ID Myself?

Technically, yes—but here’s why you shouldn’t:

  • YouTube only allows one Content ID registration per track. That means if you register it yourself, you have three options:
    1. Give Content ID control to one library and miss out on all the others.
    2. Try to convince every library that you’re handling Content ID properly (most won’t accept this).
    3. Let That Pitch handle it, and instantly distribute to 100+ libraries that already trust us. (and you can still work with libraries outside of That Pitch!)

Most libraries will require exclusive Content ID control anyway—so if you manage it yourself, you’ll likely end up locked into just one.

By letting That Pitch handle Content ID, your music is eligible for sync everywhere, without the back-and-forth.

What If My Track is Already in Content ID Somewhere Else?

You need to remove it before uploading to That Pitch. Here’s how:

  1. Email your current Content ID provider (your distributor, label, or CID admin).
  2. Use this email template:

Email Template:

  2. Once confirmed, you can upload your track to That Pitch without any conflicts.

Can I Be on That Pitch Without Content ID?

No. If your track is on That Pitch, it must stay in our Content ID. That’s part of how we keep things smooth for the libraries we work with.

Why This Matters for Libraries

If an artist doesn't follow these rules, here’s what happens:

  • A library downloads the track from That Pitch and assumes it’s cleared for use.
  • They place it in a commercial, video game, or TV show.
  • Later, they get a Content ID claim from another provider (like a distributor the artist forgot to remove).
  • Now the library has to fight the claim, pause the project, or even pull the ad.
  • The client gets frustrated. The library looks bad. They remove your music from their site.

Libraries only want tracks they can use instantly, without headaches. If your track isn’t fully cleared, they’ll just stop using your music—and could potentially blacklist you in the sync world.

By letting That Pitch handle Content ID, your tracks stay in libraries, your music gets used, and you get paid.

Need to Whitelist a YouTube Video?

If you’ve licensed your track elsewhere and need to allow a specific YouTube channel to use it without triggering a claim, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Licensing > Enter the YouTube Channel URL.
  2. Submit the request.
  3. YouTube will process it in about 24 hours.

This keeps your track in That Pitch’s libraries while still allowing outside usage.

The Short Version:

✅ That Pitch manages Content ID so your track can be licensed to multiple libraries.
✅ You get 100% of Content ID revenue.
✅ If your track is already in Content ID elsewhere, remove it before uploading.
✅ Tracks on That Pitch must stay in Content ID—no exceptions.
✅ Need to allow a YouTube video? Use the Licensing form.
✅ Managing Content ID yourself = fewer opportunities. Letting That Pitch do it = access to 100+ libraries.

That’s it. No surprises, no hassle—just making sure your music gets used, paid for, and protected. 🚀
