How to Set Up Splits for a Track

At That Pitch, ownership splits and collaborator lists must be finalized and locked in during the initial upload process. To prevent catastrophic royalty reporting errors and protect the legal rights of all creators involved, splits, percentages, and collaborator lists cannot be changed, adjusted, or updated once a track has been uploaded.

Because music is delivered to our partner libraries at a rapid pace, locking these percentages ensures everyone is credited legally from day one and completely avoids ownership conflicts down the line.

When Do I Add Splits?

Splits must be added while you are actively uploading your track.

There is no grace period. You will not be able to add new collaborators, remove existing partners, or modify writer split percentages once the upload is complete—even if the track is still pending library acceptance. It is absolutely critical that you have these legal details finalized, calculated, and agreed upon with your co-writers before initiating the upload.

How to Add Splits During Upload

1.Begin Your Upload:

Start the standard track upload process within your creator dashboard.

2.Input Collaborator Details:

During the upload flow, navigate to the splits section to add your co-creators. You will need to enter each partner's accurate:

  • Legal Name

  • Associated Email Address

  • Assigned Percentage Split

(Note: If a collaborator does not have an active That Pitch account, they will receive an email invitation to create a profile for free so they can claim their shares.)

3.Verify the 100% Total:

Double-check all figures before submitting. The system requires all listed shares to mathematically total exactly 100%.

Crucial Account Rules to Remember

⚠️ The Correction Rule: If you discover a spelling mistake, an incorrect percentage, or a missing collaborator after a track has been uploaded, the track cannot be edited. To fix the issue, you must completely delete the track from your dashboard and re-upload it as a brand-new submission with the correct split metadata.

  • Viewing Splits Later: After your track is live, you can review your finalized, immutable splits at any time by navigating to the Splits tab inside your account dashboard.

Simple version: Add all collaborators and final percentages during the initial upload process. Splits are completely permanent and cannot be modified or updated later under any circumstances. If an error is made, the track must be deleted and re-uploaded entirely.
