Short answer: no, stems are optional.
When you upload music to That Pitch, providing stems is helpful, but not required.
Many libraries traditionally ask for stems because they can:
Make custom edits for TV, film, and ads
Remove certain instruments for dialogue
Create alternate mixes more easily
That said, we’ve negotiated our deals so stems are not mandatory. This means you can still submit music even if you only have the full master.
Here’s how it works in practice:
If you have stems, great — they can increase flexibility for editors
If you don’t have stems, your track can still be sent to libraries
Not having stems will not block your music from being considered
Our goal is to remove friction and help you get your music into libraries without extra technical hurdles.
Simple version: stems are a bonus, not a requirement.
