How to Set Up Splits for a Track

When you collaborate with co-writers, bandmates, or producers, you’ll need to set up splits so that everyone gets credited and paid correctly. Splits tell our system how to divide royalties across all contributors on a track.

Step 1: Add Your Track

  • Upload your track as usual.

  • Once it’s in your catalog, you’ll see the option to manage Splits on the track page.

Step 2: Invite Your Collaborators

  • Click Add Collaborator.

  • Enter their name and email.

  • If they don’t already have a That Pitch account, they’ll receive a free invite.

  • They can create a free account to accept splits (they don’t need a paid plan to do this).

Step 3: Set Percentages

  • Assign each collaborator a percentage.

  • All splits must add up to 100%.

  • By default, we apply equal shares if multiple collaborators are added — but you can edit these numbers to reflect your actual agreement.

Step 4: Confirm & Save

  • Review the splits to make sure everything is correct.

  • Once you hit Save, all collaborators will be notified.

  • They’ll need to log in and accept the split to finalize it.

Step 5: How Splits Work After Setup

  • Once everyone accepts, That Pitch automatically applies the split to all royalties tied to that track.

  • This includes publishing, master, and Content ID payouts (depending on your agreement).

  • You’ll see the split info in your dashboard at any time.

FAQ

Can I change splits later?
Yes — but only before a track is distributed into libraries. Once a track is live in multiple libraries, changes require support to avoid royalty mismatches.

Do collaborators need a paid account?
No. Collaborators can join for free to accept splits and get credited.

What if someone doesn’t accept?
The track will remain pending until all collaborators accept their share.

Tip: Always make sure you’ve agreed on splits with your collaborators before uploading. It avoids disputes and ensures smooth royalty collection.
